Air Canada, the flag carrier of Canada has announced a major expansion in the Indian market. In addition to the current Toronto and Montreal to Delhi connectivity, the airline has announced more flights starting from the upcoming Winter schedule.

Air Canada Indian Expansion
As part of the expansion, the airline will enhance the Indian seat capacity by 40 percent. In the upcoming winter season, it will be operating 25 times a week between India and Canada. Winter schedule starts from October end. Here is a quick look at all the new additions:
Toronto to Mumbai
The Toronto to Mumbai route, which Air Canada used to operate seasonally via London Heathrow will be operated non-stop from October 27 with a four times-a-week frequency. Flights will be operated on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays. The return flight from Mumbai to Toronto will be operational on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays.
This will be the only non-stop connection between Canada and Mumbai. The aircraft to be deployed on this route will be a Boeing 777-200LR. The airline has six Boeing 777-200LRs configured with 40 Business, 24 Premium Economy, and 236 Economy Class seats.
Calgary to Delhi via London Heathrow
Air Canada is all set to connect Calgary to Delhi with a fuel stopover at London Heathrow Airport. Previously, the airline used to do the same for the Toronto to Mumbai route.
From October 27, this Calgary to Delhi via Heathrow connection will be operated daily. The aircraft to be deployed on this route is Boeing 787 Dreamliner. Air Canada has 31 Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners with 30 Business, 21 Premium Economy, and 247 Economy Class seats.
The schedule of the Vancouver to Heathrow flight has been adjusted for passengers to seamlessly connect to and from India. In short, the airline will be connecting both Vancouver and Calgary to Delhi via London Heathrow.
Montreal to Delhi Frequency Boost
Times of Aviation was one of the first aviation publications to report on the airline’s frequency increment between Montreal and Delhi. Now, the airline has confirmed the same.
From October 27, the airline will increase the flight frequency between both cities from thrice weekly to daily. This means that the overall seat capacity will rise by 44%.
Mark Galardo, the Executive Vice President of Revenue and Network Planning at Air Canada expressed the importance of India as a market for the airline. He highlighted the longstanding and growing trade ties between both countries. He said that the expansion of the Air Canada network falls in line with Diwali. New connections from Toronto to Mumbai and more flights from Western Canada to India will increase connectivity options for passengers. The aim is to solidify the position of Air Canada in the market between India and Canada.
In the winter schedule, Air Canada will be operating 7,400 weekly seats to India. Add to this, the airline also provides seamless connections to other cities in Canada and North America.
