Under the restructuring process, Air India is looking to improve customer experience at every touchpoint. In alignment with this initiative, it has now released a new app for its lead Cabin Crew members. This app aims to take care of personalized services and advanced reporting of issues.
Air India Launches New App For Lead Cabin Crew
The flag carrier of India has announced the roll-out of its new app named Cabin Executive Plus (CE+). As the name suggests, this app is for the lead cabin crew present on every flight, who guides the other flight attendants. This new app has been installed on the iPad provided to 1,200 of the lead cabin crew members.
There are various uses for this app. The first one is personalized services. For instance, there is a passenger, who is a frequent flier. With the help of CE+ app, the lead cabin crew will be able to know about the meal preferences and special requests of that passenger based on the data from past flights. This aims to enhance passenger’s trust in the airline.
Second use is prompt reporting of maintenance issues. For example, there is an issue with seat or the In-Flight Entertainment System onboard the aircraft. With the use of this app, the lead Cabin Crew can capture photos of such maintenance issues and report them. An important aspect is that such issues can be reported in offline mode as well. The reported observations will be forwarded to the engineering team of Air India, who will ensure that the problem is solved as soon as possible.
Last year, the airline revealed the new uniforms for its cabin crew members. To distinguish the lead cabin crew and others, it has given different color uniforms to both uniforms. The lead cabin crew adorns the aubergine theme uniform, while other flight attendants wear the red-themed one.
Air India: Enhancing Cabin Crew Teamwork
This app has been designed by the in-house engineering team of Air India. Its teams in California and Gurugram have joined forces to come up with this app. With time, this app will be updated with more features to enhance customer experience.
This app consists of a dynamic crew allocation feature. This allows cabin executives to assign crew positions according to the specific needs of each aircraft type, and enhances overall efficiency and service standards. This app also contains centralized access to a repository of documents, including galley loading plans and the IFE handbook, which saves time and boosts service quality.
Other features on this app include information regarding birthday surprises for Frequent Flyers, menus in different languages to avoid barriers, AI-powered recommendations for personalized food and drink service, and a camera lens cabin view for quickly spotting any issues.
AI: Artificial Intelligence Upgrade Coming Soon
Dr Satya Ramaswamy, based in San Francisco is responsible for the Digital Transformation of Air India. No comments about other departments, but Air India has done well in the tech turnaround under Dr Satya. In a statement, he confirmed that soon, Artificial Intelligence enabled features will be included in the CE+ app.
He said that cabin crew are the brand ambassadors of Air India. With the Cabin Executive Plus App, they will have a lot of valuable data at their fingertips. This will help a lot in elevating the guest experience. A large number of AI features are scheduled to be included in the app.
Air India is Late; Actually Very Late
Until 2022, Air India was under control of the Government of India. It has been under the TATA Group for the last two years. For decades, the GoI has not updated the airline’s operational system. Now, the new owners are gradually upgrading to new systems.
Air India is launching the app for Cabin crew now. But other airlines like Singapore International Airlines (SIA) had this app for a long time. SIA has an app named CrewCollab, which delivers personalized customer service to streamline the process.
Emirates, in 2014 launched its app called Journey Manager for airport ground staff. 7 months ago, it launched a new ‘One Device’ strategy that leveraged the technology of Apple. It handed out 20,000 new iPads and iPhones customized with apps for Emirates Cabin crew members.
Airlines are now moving on to the next stage of in-flight services. Qatar Airways, a month ago unveiled the world’s first AI Flight Attendant named Sama 2.0. Developed in collaboration with UneeQ, Sama 2.0 is similar to an in-flight encyclopedia.
Conclusion: New App For Air India Cabin Crew
Air India has launched a new app named Cabin Executive Plus (CE+) for its lead cabin crew members. This app will provide personalized passenger data at the fingertips of the staff members. The aim is to elevate the passenger experience. Members will be able to promptly report maintenance issues onboard aircraft, even in offline mode. With this, Air India joins the likes of other global airlines to have such an app for its flight attendants.
