AirAsia Connects Jaipur to Kuala Lumpur
On 21 April, Malaysian Low-Cost Carrier AirAsia launched non-stop services between Jaipur International Airport and Kuala Lumpur International Airport. AirAsia becomes the maiden airline to operate flights on this route. The inaugural flight was operated by an Airbus A320neo registered as 9M-AGQ. The aircraft departed Kuala Lumpur at 11:39 AM UTC and landed at Jaipur Airport at 04:47 PM UTC. The maiden flight took five hours to reach Jaipur.
The maiden flight was fully occupied, with all seats reserved. The passengers were welcomed by the staff of AirAsia upon arrival and were presented with exclusive goodie bags.
From now on, the airline will operate four times a week between both cities. It will operate on Sundays, Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. The flagship equipment- A320neo will be deployed on this route. Here is a quick look at flight timings:

AK18: Jaipur to Kuala Lumpur; Departure: 22:10, Arrival: 06:05 (Next day)
Enhancing Connectivity
Thrilled with the announcement of this new route, AirAsia Group CEO Bo Lingam said that AirAsia is the maiden airline operating between Kuala Lumpur and the city of Jaipur, often termed as the ‘Jewel of Rajasthan’. He referred to the city as extremely beautiful and adorned the historical monuments like Hawa Mahal and Jal Mahal.
He added that the airline is committed to enhancing connections between India and Malaysia. AirAsia started flights between both countries in 2008, and since then, the number of connections has kept increasing.
With this route, AirAsia strengthens that commitment. It is now connecting Kuala Lumpur to 10 Indian cities, 8 with AirAsia Berhad and the remaining 2 with AirAsia X. Lingam hopes that more and more visitors will travel between both countries, specifically when the Government of Malaysia allows visa-free entry for Indian citizens.
Various flights of AirAsia are currently on sale. Passengers travelling from Kuala Lumpur to Bhubaneswar, Vizag, Ahmedabad, Trivandrum, and Amritsar can avail 20% discount on their flights, if they are traveling between 6 May and 30 November 2024. You can book flights until 28 April 2024 to enjoy this discount.
More Indian Destinations in the Pipeline
AirAsia has a slew of Indian destinations, scheduled for launch. Just 5 days later, on April 26, the airline will launch non-stop flights between Kuala Lumpur and Visakhapatnam. Similar to Jaipur, this route will also be exclusively served by AirAsia. Vizag flights will be operated three times a week.
After 4 days of Vizag launch, on May 1, the airline will launch flights to Ahmedabad. It will become the second Malaysian carrier to do so after Malaysia Airlines. MAS already operates 4X weekly on this route. AirAsia will do the same.
On 28 May, AirAsia will launch one more exclusive route between Kuala Lumpur and Bhubaneswar. The airline has flying rights for Kozhikode and Guwahati as well. Furthermore, it is eyeing to start Patna service by the end of 2024.
