Akasa Air is the youngest major airline in India. With an age of less than two years, it has become the fastest Indian airline to start international services. It has entered the Middle East region and is eyeing an expansion. As it is looking forward to marking its entry into the Saudi Arabian market, the airline has partnered with Wego, the largest flight booking platform in the Middle East and North African (MENA) region.
Akasa Air Partners With Wego
Wego is the largest booking engine in the Middle East. Akasa Air has collaborated with Wego to sell its flights through the booking portal. The passengers will now be able to search and book the international flights of Akasa Air on the booking portal of Wego.
Already, Indian airlines like IndiGo, Air India, and SpiceJet sell their services on Wego’s portal. As per the press release, Wego is looking to provide its users with more options.
In March end, Akasa Air started flight services between Mumbai and Doha. In mid-June, the airline will launch operations to two Saudi Arabian cities: Riyadh and Jeddah. Jeddah will be connected to Mumbai and Ahmedabad, while Riyadh will be connected to Mumbai only. Within just 19 months of inception, the airline has launched international services, becoming the fastest airline to do so.

Akasa Air Chief Commercial Officer, Praveen Iyer said that the airline is pleased to partner with Wego as its international expansion plans move ahead. India is one of the largest aviation markets and the traffic between India & Gulf is growing rapidly. This collaboration will make sure that passengers have access to more choices. The users of Wego can access Akasa Air’s fares. The travel portal will promote these fares through its huge marketing channels.
Chief Business Officer (MENA region) for Wego, Mamoun Hmedan said that a partnership with Akasa Air is a natural fit for the company when the airline is the fastest-growing airline and is poised to expand rapidly in the Gulf region.
In the last three months, Wego recorded more than 1.8 crore searches between the MENA region and the Indian subcontinent. Akasa Air will be able to showcase its offerings on the travel portal of Wego, which will result in increased ticket bookings.
