Fly91 Launches Agatti & Jalgaon Flights
Regional startup airline Fly91 is now operating in half a dozen Indian cities. On April 18, it launched the inaugural service to Agatti Airport in Agatti and Jalgaon in the State of Maharashtra. These inaugural flights were operated by its second ATR 72, which it received just a day ago. This ATR 72, registered as VT-FIC was earlier operated by airlines like TruJet and FlyBig.
Now, the airline is operating four times a week between Goa and Agatti Island. The flights are operational on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays. From May 1, this flight will be upgraded to daily service.
Fly91 is connecting Jalgaon to two cities: Hyderabad and Goa. Flights to both cities operate thrice weekly on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays. With these additions, Fly91 is connecting Goa to three Indian cities. It recently joined hands with the Goa Tourism Department to help boost tourism in the state.
Talking about the launch of new flights, the Managing Director of Fly91, Manoj Chacko expressed the airline’s dedication to provide affordable air travel options to passengers. He emphasized the commitment to enhancing last-mile connectivity. These flight additions come at a time when traffic peaks during the summer holiday season.
Fly91 Inducts Second ATR 72
Fly91 had earlier signed a pact with Dubai Aerospace Capital for acquiring two ATR 72 aircraft, sub-leased by Vman Aviation. Now, the airline has received delivery of both these jets. On 17 April 2024, it received the delivery of the second ATR 72 at Goa Manohar International Airport. Just a day after delivery, it was pressed into commercial service.
The aircraft, MSN 1364 was initially delivered to TruJet in December 2016. When 2T went bankrupt, the aircraft was transferred to another regional airline – FlyBig in 2022. Due to a dispute between Vman Aviation and FlyBig over unauthorized transactions, Vman ceased its ATR 72 fleet from the airline and leased it to Fly91. With Fly91, it is operating as VT-FIC. The previous aircraft, VT-FIB also had a similar story.
The network of Fly91 has now expanded to six Indian cities. The airline launched operations from 4 cities: Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Sindhudurg, and Goa. Now, Fly91 has added Agatti and Jalgaon to its network. By the end of 2024, the airline plans to expand its fleet to 6 ATR 72s.
Good Days For Agatti Airport
Since the promotion of Lakshadweep Island by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, traffic at Agatti Airport has witnessed a gradual rise. As a result of this, airlines have ramped up their capacity. Alliance Air, which used to operate daily between Kochi and Agatti has increased its flight frequency in double digits.
IndiGo, the largest airline in India has entered Agatti Market with non-stop flights from Bengaluru Kempegowda International Airport. Additionally, it will also connect Kochi to Agatti with daily flights from May 1.
With an additional 4X weekly flights of Fly91, the weekly services from Agatti Airport have increased from 7X weekly to 31X weekly (considering 6E’s COK-AGX flight & Fly91’s upgrade from May 1).
