IndiGo: Options of Seven Lakh Hotel Properties
Passengers traveling with IndiGo can now book their hotels along with their flights on the airline’s website. Upon doing so, they will receive exclusive discounts. The airline has included more than seven lakh hotel properties in the booking inventory across the world.
This option is available for both domestic and international passengers. This move will help the passengers save a lot of time and simplify their trip planning. A diverse range of preferences and cost options have been included in the portfolio.
To develop and manage the mixed platform of hotel and flight reservations, the airline has brought Vernost Marketing Services Private Limited on board. Vernost is a marketing partner of Expedia Group. The platform will allow IndiGo passengers to book hotels at 2,50,000 destinations globally.
Chief Digital and Information Officer at IndiGo, Neetan Chopra announced this move. She said that the airline is always eager to improve the customer journey through further digitization. This move of merging hotel and flight bookings highlights the commitment of IndiGo to serve its customers and reduce inconvenience during travel planning.
Win-Win Situation For Both
When an airline merges hotel and flight bookings on its portal, this becomes a win-win situation for both- passengers as well as airlines.
For passengers, they can get all the options on a single platform, which simplifies the process. It saves a lot of time by reducing the need to visit multiple websites or platforms and doing separate transactions. In addition, passengers get discounted hotel booking offers. In the future, when IndiGo launches its loyalty program, it may extend to hotel bookings as well.
For airlines, this can result in an increased revenue. The airline can earn more via hotel bookings and other related services. It opens up more opportunities for airlines to cross-sell services and add-ons.
KLM Royal Dutch Airlines is another airline, which is a client of Expedia. Air India, the rival airline of IndiGo also provides hotel booking facilities for the United Kingdom. In November 2023, it signed a partnership with Roseate Hotels and Resorts for the same.
