Since its inauguration in mid-2022, Deoghar Airport was exclusively served by only one airline: IndiGo. Now, it has established a new route connecting the airport with Bengaluru. With this launch, the largest airline in India has bolstered its domination at the new airport.
IndiGo Connects Bengaluru to Deoghar
On June 1, IndiGo launched non-stop flights connecting Deoghar Airport (DGH) to Bengaluru Kempegowda International Airport (BLR). The inaugural flight was operated with an Airbus A320neo registered as VT-IJZ. From now on, the airline will operate three times a week between both cities. Flights will be operational on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays.

The airline will be deploying its Airbus A320neo on this route. According to the airline press release, this route is expected to increase travel options between South India and religious hubs of Jharkhand. Deoghar is known for the famous Baidyanath Temple, which attracts millions of pilgrims annually. Hills, lakes, and waterfalls are the heart of Deoghar. Other than devotees, this route will also prove to be beneficial for students.
IndiGo’s History at Deoghar Airport
Since its inception, IndiGo has been at the forefront at Deoghar Airport. Even, the test flight at this airport was conducted by IndiGo. Eventually, it launched maiden flights from Deoghar, connecting the religious city to Delhi and Kolkata with daily flights.
In the last Summer Schedule, IndiGo added some Tier-2 cities to the network map of Deoghar. It launched flights to Ranchi and Patna. Unlike DEL & CCU service, these flights were operated using the ATR-72 turboprop aircraft.
In summary, the airline is connecting Deoghar to Delhi, Kolkata, Ranchi, and Patna. Bengaluru will become the fifth city to get connected to Deoghar. With this launch, IndiGo will be operating 24 departures from Deoghar Airport.
In April 2023, Deoghar Airport received a DGCA nod for night landing. In November, IndiGo received approval to operate VFR flights from Deoghar Airport, enabling the airline to operate its turboprop aircraft with visibility as low as 3,600 meters. For the A320 fleet, the minimum visibility is 3,200 meters.
