Lucknow Airport: Domestic Operations to Terminal 3
From April 21, all domestic operations from Lucknow Airport will be catered from the newly inaugurated Terminal 3. Currently, all the major airlines operate their domestic services from Terminal 2. From tomorrow, all these services will be shifted to T3.
Terminal 3 was operationalized on March 31. Akasa Air, the youngest major airline in India shifted its entire operations from T2 to T3. It connects Lucknow to Mumbai and Bengaluru with daily flights to each destination.
Lucknow Airport is managed by Adani Group. A media person from the airport authority welcomed all the airlines to shift their operations to the new terminal building. He said that this shift has taken place in a phased manner and now, all airlines can utilize the terminal.
The airport operator is in constant dialogue with airlines to make sure that the shifting of passenger operations is streamlined. It is deploying signboards and adequate staff members to assist passengers through the new building. Not just the airport, additional staff and signboards are also being placed at the metro station adjoining the airport to assist customers. All passengers heading for departures must use the upward ramp near Lakshaman Square. Those arriving to pick up passengers should proceed to the ground level toward the arrival section of T3.
What About International Flights?
International flights will remain as it is. Passengers traveling internationally will continue to use the Terminal 1. All the international flights will dock at T1. Lucknow Airport is connected internationally to seven Indian cities. This includes Bangkok, Muscat, Dubai, Sharjah, Jeddah, Riyadh, and Dammam. From May 15, IndiGo will resume flights from Lucknow to Abu Dhabi.
Terminal 3 of Lucknow Airport was constructed with an investment of Rs 2,400 crore. Currently, only the Phase 1 is operational. In this phase, the airport has an annual passenger capacity of 8 million. Once the phase 2 will be completed, it will be capable of handling 13 million passengers. The operationalization of the new terminal building ensures direct employment to 13,000 individuals.
This new building is filled with adequate features. It includes the biometric-based Check-In system DigiYatra. There is a self-baggage drop for customers, which reduces check-in time. Automatic tray retrieval systems and advanced baggage scanning machines have been placed at the airport. New Apron will enhance boarding gates from 7 to 13. Furthermore, the number of aerobridges will increase from 2 to 7.
IndiGo has announced the operational shift on social media. The airline has informed all the passengers traveling from Lucknow about the shift.
