- SUMMARY
- Both Tata Group Full Service Carriers are keen to increase services between India and Europe.
- Vistara will soon operate daily on all its European routes.
- It is expected to reduce the underutilization of its Dreamliner resources.
Similar to its sister carrier, Vistara is also increasing the frequency of major European routes. Both Full-Service Carriers under the umbrella of TATA Group are expanding their presence in the European market. With this move, Vistara will be reducing the underutilization of the Dreamliner fleet.
Vistara to Expand Frequency on European Routes
Other than Bali, Vistara is operating the Boeing 787 Dreamliner on routes connecting Delhi/Mumbai to London, Frankfurt, and Paris. Within the next few weeks, flights on all these routes will be operated on a daily basis. In this article, let us take a close look at all the upcoming European network changes to be made by Vistara.
Delhi to Paris
Vistara currently operates five times a week between Delhi Indira Gandhi International Airport (DEL) and Paris Charles de Gaulle International Airport (CDG). Flights are operated every day except Tuesdays and Thursdays. From 18 June, the airline will operate daily on this route.
In November 2021, Vistara started flights on this route. Under the air bubble agreement, these flights were initiated with a twice-weekly frequency. In October 2022, the frequency was raised from two to five times a week.
Mumbai to Paris
Similar to the previous route, Vistara operates five times a week between Mumbai and Paris as well. The airline operates every day except Fridays and Sundays. However, this will change on June 16, when the airline enhances the frequency from five to seven times a week.
This service upgrade comes just two months after the launch. On March 28, the airline launched flights on this route. One more important update is regarding the terminal change at Paris Airport. With effect from 29 May, the airline is now operating all arrivals and departures from Terminal 2C. Previously, it used to operate from Terminal 2E.
Delhi to Frankfurt
Currently, Vistara is operating six times a week between Delhi and Frankfurt. Except for Wednesdays, flights are operational on all days of the week. From 19 June, this route will also be revised to daily flights.
In February 2021, Vistara launched flights on Delhi to Frankfurt route. The frequency on this route was increased to six times a week when the airline received its third Boeing 787 Dreamliner in October 2022.
Mumbai to Frankfurt
Similar to Delhi-Frankfurt, Vistara operates six times a week between Mumbai and Frankfurt. Flights are operational every day except Mondays. From 17 June, the frequency will be revised to daily.
This route was launched on November 15, 2023. Since its inception, the frequency was six times a week. The airline planned this launch when it received the delivery of its fifth Dreamliner in August 2023.
Air India & Vistara Increasing the European Network
With this expansion, Vistara will be offering 10,465 weekly seats on sale on European routes. This number could have been higher, if it had not been forced to suspend the Mumbai to London service because of slot scarcity at Heathrow. The airline shuffled the BOM-LHR route seat capacity to the Delhi-Bali route.
Not just Vistara, but Air India is also set to increase its European network. Other than announcing Zurich as its first Switzerland destination, the airline has increased frequency on routes connecting Delhi to Milan, Amsterdam, and Copenhagen. By the end of June month, flights to Milan and Amsterdam will be operated daily.
This overall increment will help both airlines to strengthen their European network, even after the conclusion of the merger. Both airlines are eyeing to complete their merger before the end of this year.
Conclusion: Vistara European Expansion
In mid-June, Vistara will increase the frequency of all Frankfurt and Paris routes to seven times a week. Details of the same have been shared in the article above. With this expansion, the airline is expected to reduce its widebody fleet utilization.
